For businesses
SchoolWalkAndRideTimes.com computes walk, drive, and school bus times to every public and private school we cover, along with likely school attendance zone estimates, at neighborhood-level granularity. The public site is free for individual parents and residents looking up their own address. If you want to build on this data commercially, here's what's available and how to talk to us about it.
Who this is for
- Real estate & relocation platforms — surface school travel times and likely-assigned-school info alongside listings.
- School-choice and edtech tools — compare travel burden across school options for families.
- Market research & site selection — neighborhood-level school access as a factor in demographic or location analysis.
- Insurance, transportation, and urban planning consultants — aggregate ride-time data across districts.
What's available
- District and school directory (name, address, grades served, sector) for every district we cover.
- Computed walk/drive times (routed on real road data, not straight-line estimates) and a school-bus time estimate, per neighborhood area per school.
- Likely school attendance zone estimates, sourced from the federal School Attendance Boundary Survey and, where available, district-published GIS boundaries -- each result labeled with its source and vintage.
- Aggregate, anonymized parent-reported ride times where enough reports exist for a spot.
This is computed and estimated data, not an official source -- attendance zones especially can lag real district boundary changes. Any commercial use should carry the same caveat we show on the public site.
Licensing
There's no self-serve API or bulk download yet. Commercial use -- a data license, a custom export, or API access -- is handled directly, scoped to what you need (a single state, a specific data slice, a refresh cadence). Reach out and tell us what you're building.
